More work and a new show...

Fri 7th May 2010

I am happy to announce that I will be taking part in Rye Art Gallery's new exhibition 'Paper Artsy' opening this month. I will have on show four small pieces of work for sale. So if you're in the area take a look.

Welcome to the New Site

Mon 1st April 2010

I have made myself a lovely new website that is hopefully much easier to find images on than the last one. Please take a good look at it and let me know if you find any bugs! This is the blog section and will be regularly updated with exciting news and events.

~Sculpture~

An Enquiry

This small tree made from Hume’s famous Enquiry Concerning Human Understanding stands at only 20cm tall. The little fairies shown below, in real life are barely visible.

The Evening Tide

This sculpture is made from a smaller than usual book and so the little people dotted around are also smaller than I've made before. The scene is of a magical beach where a family are playing. Mermaids are concealed behind a giant wave under which fish swim and skeletons reside.

Digging Words

This sculpture was commissioned by the Otter Gallery in Chichester and was made to be shown in a library, some of the figures, little more than 2cm tall, toil at digging deep down into the book they stand on. Others rest beside minute buckets and spades whilst book dust and debris scatters across the pages.

Ream

Ream is the story of a little girl made out of paper who lives inside a book. It is told via a 3D model where each page of the story has its own little area. To by the book click here or to download a free pdf version click here.

Fairytale Escape

"Tick, tock, tick tock, into the dead of night,
Open the little door, hide from the light.
Don't let them hear you, don't let them wake,
And don't let them find you making your escape."

2D Work

This is a new section of the website and a new area of work.
I have recently been making small models purely for the purpose of illustration and have begun acquiring new skills such as web design. So watch this space...

~ About the Artist ~

I am a paper artist who specializes in miniature sculptures. From books & other scraps I make detailed scenes that describe and illustrate stories & poems I’ve written. Heavily influenced by old fashioned children’s tales, my sculptures have been described as miniature magical worlds.

I am also an artist in residence at the beautiful Wilton's Music Hall in East London.
